    November 17, 2017 - January 15, 2018 @ Circle of Palms

    For the 8th executive year, the San Jose Downtown Association and their partners, Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream Foundation and Hawaiian Airlines, will be hosting the South Bay’s largest outdoor skating rink through the holiday season. People of all ages are welcome to experience the outdoor skating rink at the Circle of Palms between the Fairmont Hotel and San Jose Museum of Art.

  2. Sonic Runway

    November 20, 2017 - January 19, 2018 @ San Jose City Hall

    The City of San José Office of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with Burning Man Project present Sonic Runway by Rob Jensen and Warren Trezevant as the first artwork selected for the Playa to Paseo initiative. Sonic Runway is a light-art installation that visualizes the speed of sound. The artwork is 432 feet long and stretch across a city block between 4th and 5th streets in front of San José City Hall, 200 E. Santa Clara Street, San Jose, CA 95113. Sonic Runway converts audio signals into a pattern of lights that shoot down a corridor of arches at the speed of sound, (1235kph /767mph). Live audio input is analyzed and converted into intricate patterns that shoot down the corridor with sound and lights in sync. The artwork can be be viewed nightly from 5:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. through January 2018.

  1. Community Meeting to Discuss FY 2018-2019 Federal Funding Priorities with a Focus on Homeless Services

    December 19, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Roosevelt Community Center

    The City of San José's Housing Department is beginning the process of developing its Federal Funding priorities for FY 2018-2019. The City proposes to continue current contracts as well as to fund new legal services, nonprofit facility upgrades, City infrastructure investments, and homeless services. Housing Department staff will be hosting a public meeting to solicit the community's input on current funding priorities and services.

    Give back to your Community--at the Almaden Community Center! Join in the holiday spirit and help spruce up the surrounding grounds of this popular gathering spot! The landscaping needs trimming and shaping. We'll improve the backside of the Community Center first. If we have enough volunteers, we'll work around the entrance too!
