FREE EXPERIENCES IN THE ARTS FOR YOUR STUDENTS
grades 4 -12
The City of San Jose is pleased to once again present Arts Express, a program serving students grades 4-12 throughout San Jose and Santa Clara County with free performances and exhibitions. The mission of Arts Express is to educate and expose young people to a variety of art forms and modes of cultural expression that are reflective of the San Jose region.
For more than thirty years, Arts Express has enabled students to attend professionally produced performances and exhibits from our local arts organizations. The City provides centralized marketing, booking and facility and technical cost subsidies, and the arts providers develop and subsidize the program content. Arts Express also offers professional development to arts providers in creating curriculum guides developed in alignment with the California Visual and Performing Arts Standards. These materials help enhance the educational value of what could otherwise be "just another field trip."
In the current funding and economic environment, we believe more than ever in the value of partnership with arts organizations, giving our youth the opportunity to experience the power of the arts. The arts play a valuable role in learning, and we are fortunate to be able to collaborate with a wide variety of arts organizations that call San Jose home.
