Office of Mayor Sam Liccardo
A Message from Sam: "We are San José"

"This is our moment to re-create San José’s future, to dream anew and stretch our imaginations around a new narrative, and a bold vision for our city – a future laden with opportunities for residents from every corner of our city.

We can provide a great civic gift to our children and grandchildren: a San José that establishes a new standard for public safety, environmental sustainability, civic innovation, and shared prosperity to which every other city will aspire.

We are San José -- and working together, we will create a San José that will be the model for the world."

San Jose See Progress on New Affordable Housing Projects
POSTED: August 23, 2018

In July, city leaders celebrated the groundbreaking of Villas on the Park, a new 100% homeless housing development in Downtown San Jose only blocks from City Hall. The development – set to open doors in 2019 – will house 83 of our homeless neighbors and host on-site supportive services and security to better help residents get back on their feet.

In addition, the Housing Trust Silicon Valley recently announced that it was providing a $15.85 million load to First Community Housing to fund and build an affordable, rent-restricted development of more than 300 homes near Diridon Station.

Learn more about Mayor Liccardo’s 15-point housing plan for building 25,000 new housing units - including 10,000 rent-restricted, affordable homes - in the next five years.

Mayor Liccardo "Flips the Switch" on San Jose Clean Energy
POSTED: September 28, 2018

This September, Mayor Liccardo "flipped the switch" to officially launch the first phase of San Jose Clean Energy (SJCE) -- a major pillar of our City's Climate Smart San Jose sustainability plan.

The phase I roll-out transitions more than 1,700 municipal energy accounts -- including San Jose City Hall, the Regional Wastewater Facility, and San Jose International Airport -- from PG&E to SJCE's 100% carbon-free power. Phase II of the Program -- set to roll out spring 2019 -- will extend service to San Jose businesses and residents, with the option to select 100% renewable, carbon-free power.

Learn more about the launch.
